Announcing selected artists for FEED and InLight Richmond!

We are pleased to announce that the exhibiting artists for both FEED2011 and InLight Richmond 2011 have been selected!

FEED2011, a national juried biennial exhibition organized by 1708 Gallery, will be on view September 2 through October 22. There were two tiers to the jurying process. The submissions were first narrowed down to a list of semi-finalists. Out of this list, five finalists were selected for the exhibition. Each of the five finalists will exhibit multiple works and will receive an honorarium of $1000.

We were thrilled to receive 338 entries for FEED2011 from 37 states and 8 countries. Jurors Lauren Marinaro, Assistant Director at Zach Feuer Gallery, New York, and Elizabeth Schlatter, Deputy Director and Curator of Exhibitions at the University of Richmond Museums, Virginia, were honored to have the opportunity to review so much dynamic work from all across the country and world.

Congratulations to the following FEED2011 finalists!

Kyan Bishop, Washington, DC
Larissa Borteh, Brooklyn, NY
Shawn Huckins, Middletown, CT
Guy Nelson, Brooklyn, NY
Ruby Wescoat, Greensboro, NC

InLight Richmond 2011
, 1708 Gallery’s fourth annual public exhibition of light-based art, will take place on Friday, October 21. This year’s exhibition will be displayed along the James River, on a site that stretches from Dominion Resources to MeadWestvaco and the Federal Reserve, and that features the American Civil War Center at Tredegar Iron Works. The site will by transformed by art installations selected by Juror Matthew Lyons, Curator at The Kitchen, in NY, presenting a mix of visual, performance and interactive art installed along the river and beach, sidewalks, historic buildings, walls and the surrounding grounds, train trestles, pedestrian bridges and more.
