Two Calls for Entries for InLight Richmond

Wearable Art InLight Call for Entries

Wearable Art InLight Competition and Fashion Show

Regenerate

1708 Gallery calls all creative individuals to submit entries for the 12th Annual Wearable Art InLight competition and fashion show, Regenerate.  A creative fusion of fashion, sculpture, media and movement, Wearable Art InLight is a component of InLight Richmond, the second annual celebration of light-inspired contemporary art. The winning designs will be presented in a fashion show which will take place outside the weekend of September 25-27, 2009 (either Friday or Saturday night) in downtown Richmond – between East Broad and East Grace Street and 5th and 8th Street. There will also be a preview of the fashion show and all finalists will be invited to participate in the Children’s Hospital’s 46th Annual Ball on November 6, 2009.

Organized by 1708 Gallery, InLight Richmond is an exploration and celebration of contemporary art including an exhibition of light-inspired art installations by international artists, the Wearable Art fashion show, performing arts, and a community lantern parade. About the theme:

The proposed concepts and designs should reflect the theme of light and regenerate. InLight Richmond transforms a part of Richmond into an outside light-inspired art experience. This year’s location – between 5th and 8th Street and East Grace and East Broad Street – is an area of Richmond experiencing a major regeneration.  New buildings have been constructed; old buildings have been rejuvenated, bringing back life into this part of Downtown. InLight Richmond celebrates this revival.
