Lantern-Making Workshops & Community Lantern Parade

Each year, InLight Richmond kicks off with a Community Lantern Parade. The lanterns are created by children and adults alike at workshops, schools, and homes in the months leading up to the exhibition. 1708 Gallery organizes a series of lantern-making workships throughout the fall to provide an opportunity for Richmonders to participate in InLight. The 2017 schedule is listed below and includes free, family-friendly workshops for all ages and skill levels encouraging all participants to explore their creative side.

To participate in InLight Richmond’s Community Lantern Parade bring a lantern you’ve made at home, in one of our public workshops, or make one with us before the parade begins from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. We will gather at the corner of Belvidere and Broad Street across from the Rite Aid at 7 p.m. (look for all the lanterns) where you will receive an LED candle for your lantern. The parade will begin at 7:30 p.m. Please visit our About page for parking details.
