Clearly Inconspicuous

Artist statement
I paint women like me and the women who raised me—soft, bold, layered. Women who hold a lot without always explaining it.
This body of work is about everyday presence without performance. It’s about showing up fully, even when the world suggests you stay small or unseen.
Each piece plays with the tension between visibility and invisibility. I’m thinking about how we’re read—or misread—based on what we choose to show. A turned back, a tilted head, hair too long to fit in the frame. These aren’t passive choices. They’re boundaries. They’re protection. They’re declarations. They’re power.
My intention isn’t to explain these women to you—it’s to let them exist as they are. For viewers, I hope these portraits feel like a mirror or a reminder: you don’t have to make yourself palatable to be valid.
What I’m offering here is visibility without apology.
A quiet kind of confidence.
Loud, even when no one’s listening.
