Ira Eduardovna: A thousand years

April 24 – May 30, 2015

Opening Reception + Artist Talk: Friday, April 24, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.; Talk at 6:00

1708 Gallery is pleased to present A thousand years, a video installation by New York-based artist, Ira Eduardovna. Largely informed by her upbringing in Uzbekistan in the 80s, Eduardovna’s work addresses ideas about family, memory, history, storytelling, and the human experience while appropriating common tropes from television and film. The works on view in this exhibition, To Prague with love and A thousand years, mimic common genres such as documentary and sitcom, but break their expected linear trajectory in favor of a disjointed narrative that prompts the viewer into actively viewing and deciphering.

The video installation, A thousand years, was produced with the support of Koffler Gallery and Asylum Arts.
